So, we were on our way home from BAILYS CABINETS, and I YELPED local grub.. Try the sausage soup!!! Great flavor . My husband had the 8 inch Italian beef & I went with the 4 inch one.. with mozzarella cheese. Iced tea is NOT fresh brewed... it's terribly bland.. we were sitting across from the coffee station & I grabbed a tea bag, and I put it in my glass.

Was just at the WN. Excellent meal! The Italian beef was excellent. The Stromboli was very good and service was wonderful!! We will be back!

Best Reuben I've had. Husband loved the pork tenderloin. Non smoking is a huge bonus. Bar was not intimidating at all. Very friendly atmosphere, will be back soon!

Always good soup and plenty of food with your order. If you are in town, definitely bring the family for a quick bite. I really enjoy the Reuben sandwich. Sweet potato fries are also great. This is also a bar, so kids are welcome but it is not a great kids environment.

The inside of the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired. Very outdated, dark & dingy - ceiling tiles weren't white at all. Although known for its roast beef, we tried a shrimp & chicken basket. They were okay. Our waiter was friendly but never returned to fill our drinks. There's just not much choice of restaurants in this area.

To dip into the sauce. Then they start throwing things like mushrooms and onions and cheese and peperchinnies. You would be executed in Chicago calling something like this Italian beef) The Nickel pulls it off though. Now I'm not saying it's Italian Beef but it is a huge and tasty French Dip.

Worth every 30 minute drive we've made to North Judson just to get Wooden Nickel's Italian beef sandwiches. Juicy and the bread doesn't rip off the roof of the mouth. Fries are good, too. Our picky kids even enjoy The Nickel's beef sandwiches. This local joint is also popular with the biking crowd - not Huffys, but Harleys. The crowd could include both enthusiasts and those who are requested to remove gang gear before entering. (See the sign posted on the side door.) Being SUV-driving, craft beer-swigging non-locals, we always made our trips in the daytime. But let me be clear... the Sunday Buffet brings in families with kids and we've never encountered any issues. And this buffet? The spread usually offers all of the Midwestern favorites from family cook-outs: Italian sausage, pasta, fried chicken, beef, potato sides, jello concoctions, even that banana pudding with the Nilla Wafers. It feels like I'm crashing someone's Graduation Open House! So don't be scared and make the drive... whether you're on a bike or driving a minivan. Head north on Main Street as soon as you see the giant ice cream cone on the corner of the drive-in ice cream stand. This is real Main Street, USA, folks, and it's delicious!

I have never eaten there but have had food catered into meetings from the WN. The chicken wraps are to die for. Plan on heading out there this weekend.

We arrived around 2pm for a late lunch. The Wooden Nickle is very clean with a sports theme. The menu is inexpensive fare from burgers to chicken. I had two drafts and they were $3.50 each. The burger was $5 and came with great fries. I had the wings and WOW! Some of the best hot wings I've ever had. At $6.50 there were six huge wings and fries. They were very crispy and nicely hot n' spicy. They came with plenty of blue cheese dressing and a huge pile of celery. The server was adorable in a big, blonde farm boy way. He was friendly and helpful. We'll go back to the Wooden Nickle anytime we happen to be in North Judson.

This little gem has become one of our go to places for our weekly tuesday lunch dates. the soup is always hot and fresh for starters. we had the shrimp cocktail once, to our surprise they were HUGE, 12-14's im guessing, with a spicy cocktail sauce. After a few trips i finally tried the itailan beef, and after having a few good subs and pork tenderloin....the beef is OFF THE HOOK. Very well seasoned, hot, dripping with aujus, i get them all the way with onions and cheese. Get the big one so you have some for later.

The WN is In downtown North Judson and a great little local joint. I had the pork tenderloin sandwich which was huge and excellent. It was served on an Italian roll which is out of the norm from a hamburger bun. My fiancee had the chicken sandwich and liked it. The waitress was really friendly even though she was waiting tables and tending bar. It's a typical, no-frills, small-town Indiana bar but they have some big screen TV's and a few pool tables.

The Wooden Nickel is a great place to eat. We usually go there about once a month. We drive in from Valparaiso, IN. Everything we had to eat there had been outstanding. The people are wonderful, It has a family dining room and there are high chairs if you need them.
